After 2019, which was the record year for world tourism, and 2020 and 2021, when the worst days were experienced with the pandemic, Turkey became one of the fastest recovering countries. Turkey, which showed significant increases in both total revenue and per capita income compared to 2019, even surpassed France, the country hosting the most tourists in the world, in per capita income.

According to the world tourism data for 2022 published by UNWTO last week, the total number of people traveling was 969 million, while the total income was announced as 1 trillion 73 billion dollars. The world average per capita tourism income was 1106 dollars. World tourism fell 26.9 percent behind the total revenue of 1 trillion 458 billion dollars in 2019 and 33.8 percent behind the total number of tourists, which was 1 billion 464 million.

2 RANKS UP IN THE NUMBER OF TOURISTS


Compiling UNWTO's reports, Recep Yavuz, Chairman of the Antalya City Council Tourism Working Group, said that while the number of world tourism tourists and total income in 2022 is far behind the 2019, Turkey has demonstrated a good development success compared to 2019. Yavuz noted that according to the reports, Turkey ranked 4th in the world with 50 million 450 thousand tourists after France, Spain and the USA in 2022, and 7th in the world with 41.4 billion dollars in total revenue.

Making a comparison with 2019, Yavuz said, "While Turkey ranked 6th in the world with 51.19 million tourists in 2019, it will overtake China and Italy in 2022. "

Making a comparison compared to 2019, Yavuz said, "While Turkey ranked 6th in the world with 51.19 million tourists in 2019, it rose to 4th in 2022, leaving China and Italy behind, and its share in the number of tourists increased from 3 percent to 5 percent. In terms of revenue, the country ranked 12th with $34.3 billion in 2019, but in 2022, it surpassed countries such as China, Germany, Japan, Australia and Thailand and ranked 7th among the 10 countries with the highest tourism revenue in the world.It also increased its share in world tourism income from 2 percent to 4 percent."
