Turkey leads health sector of the world not only for hair transplant and aesthetic operations, but also for many health needs. Turkish Health Tourism Association (TÜSATDER) President Dr. Servet Terziler, noted that Turkey rapidly regained the momentum in health tourism, which slowed down after the earthquake, the turnover of4 billions dollars health tourism, which was achieved in the previous year, will be exceeded.
Doubling the turnover of last year
Turkish Health Tourism Association President Dr. Servet Terziler emphasized that Turkey is known in health tourism even in the jungles of Africa and noted that it will complete the year 2023 by doubling the turnover of last year with 4 billion dollars. Tailors pointed out that Turkey's star in health tourism began to shine in the early 2000s, and while there was only demand from the Gulf countries and Arabian Peninsula countries at that time, today two of the three health tourism patients come from Europe. Terziler said, "In the early 2010s, when healthy tourism started to catch fire, there was a massive influx of patients from countries such as Gulf countries, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar in terms of growth. But after 2015, Europe gradually began to wonder what's going on. "When we look at the years 2017-2018, the ratio of European tourists to tourists from the Arab world has started to be 50 percent higher. We are starting to see that two of the 3 health tourism patients coming to Turkey are from Europe and one from the Arab world," he said.
20-30 percent growth
Emphasizing that many health tourism patients, even from transcontinental America, Canada, even Australia and Brazil, prefer Turkey, Terziler said, "Currently, health tourists from over 150 countries continue to come to our country. Even in forests, it is known that Turkey is very good in health tourism, it is very good in hair transplantation, it is a brand. This is a great happiness. "During the Kovid pandemic, Turkey was adversely affected by the closures, as was the case with the rest of the world, and 20-30% growth in health tourism." Emphasizing that there was a shrinkage of about 1 million, but after the borders were opened, a flock of health tourists began to come, Terziler said that although the turnover decreased to close to 2.5 billion dollars in 2020, it started to rise again in the following year and in 2022. Terziler said, “Turkey is very good in Kovid. While we gained momentum not only in aesthetics, dental and hair transplantation, but also in general health services, when we look at the year 2022, health tourism closed the year with a record and we saw a turnover of 4 billion dollars. We hosted approximately 50 percent of this, that is, 1 million hair tourists in our country, and we achieved an average turnover of 2 billion dollars as a country."
