Reyhan Şenay-If you have a foreign mobile phone that you want to use in Turkey, you will need to pay the new fee in order to register it. You can register your phone at any tax office in Turkey.
The increase in the fee took effect on July 7, 2023. Today the registration of IMEI is 66,091 liras. But tomorrow it will be 20.000 TL. Foreigners can register their phones from any tax offices.
What is IMEI registration?

The reason of increasing the fee
The government has increased the fee in order to limit the use of counterfeit and imported phones in Turkey. The government hopes to make it less attractive for people to use counterfeit or imported phones in Turkey by increasing the fee for IMEI registration,
What do you need?
To register your phone, you will need to provide the following information to the tax office:
- Your phone's IMEI number
- Your passport number
- Your Turkish residence permit (if applicable)
- The payment receipt for the registration fee
