District Governor Murtaza Dayanç attended the ceromony with the participation of Deputy Governor of İzmir Faik Arıcan, Coast Guard Aegean Sea Region Commander Rear Admiral Serkan Tezel, Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Murat Karacanta, Provincial Health Director Assoc. M. Emre Erkuş, Urla Chief Public Prosecutor Ali Armağan Karaca, District Police Chief İsmail Duman, District Gendarmerie Commander First Lieutenant Adem Aydoğdu, Turkish Environmental Education Foundation (TÜRÇEV) İzmir and Northern Aegean Provinces Coordinator Doğan Karataş, NGO representatives, mukhtars and citizens.

33 criterias for Blue Flag


Speaking at the ceremony, İzmir Deputy Governor Faik Arıcan pointed out that tourism is one of the areas that all countries deal with in the world and said: “The Blue Flag, which we celebrate today is an international label. This is an international label with 33 criterias that is not easily obtained. We are in third place in the world, but there is no reason not to be first when we look at our potential. We are third in the world, and our city is in the third position in our country. We have very valuable beaches. It takes some effort to refine them and put them at the service of our citizens. It is not easy to obtain, but we need to make an effort to increase it in the coming periods. I would like to thank all the stakeholders who contributed to the blue flag.”

How to go to Urla?

There are many ways to go Urla. Public buses, minibuses, ferries and private vehicles can be used, which is 35 km away from Izmir city center. From Üçkuyular you can take a bus or minibuses. From bus center in Fahrettin Altay you can go with minibuses easily which takes 30-45 minutes according to the traffic and you can get off the minibus in front of Gelinkaya public beach. You can use the 984 Urla-Fahrettin Altay bus line from Izmir to Urla by bus.
